Greater Manchester Cricket League
As the Steroplast sports range grows ever-wider, we’re working with more and more sports clubs and individuals. We already support several local teams, and – as from the start of the 2019 cricket season - we will be an official partner of the Greater Manchester Cricket League (GMCL). And we couldn’t be more delighted, as it’s a perfect opportunity to work directly with the clubs in the league in order to understand their needs and develop solutions.

Covering cricket across Greater Manchester
Established as recently as 2016, the GMCL already boasts some 86 clubs with 220 teams between them, including 60 junior teams. That’s about 5,000 cricketers, aged from 9 upwards! Competing in a variety of game formats, including weekend leagues, midweek cups and Twenty20s, the GMCL’s clubs are spread throughout the region, from Wigan to Oldham, Rochdale to Stockport.
But the explosive growth of the GMCL shouldn’t be surprising. After all, its outstanding blend of open-age policy, focus on quality and safety, and philosophy of ‘fair and competitive cricket’, gives it massive appeal to cricketing veterans and newcomers alike. Add in superb administration, from fixtures and umpire organisation, to player welfare and discipline, and you have a sporting set-up that looks likely to keep on growing for years to come!
And while the GMCL is very conscious of cricket’s history and traditions, it also understands the need to bring the game and its presentation into the modern era. That’s why its website hosts CricHQ live scoring, live streaming of games and a digital results service. In short, everything is just a click away. And with over 2 million hits on the site last year, it’s an approach that’s clearly working.
